Adam Smith Conferences 11th Russian Automotive Industry Forum took place on March 11th -13th at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow. The unprecedented number of attendees in 2008 reflected the increase in activity in the region and reconfirmed the Forum status as the most important automotive gathering of the year.

Over 550 attendees gathered from 27 countries to hear General Directors of manufacturers, suppliers and dealerships from the following companies examine current and future industry developments, provide strategic and production forecasts, evaluate recent strategic partnerships and potential entry strategies as well as give an honest assessment of their journey to success in the region:

With the help of heads of regional government, key investors, experience industry consultants and solution providers, the 70+ speaker faculty were able to paint the picture of the Russian Automotive Industry covering such topics as:

  • Localization projects, including a focus on effective recruitment and training

  • Construction of new a component manufacturing cluster in St Petersburg

The Annual Automotive Industry Awards which took place at the end of Day 2. The following awards were presented by Jason Stein Chief Editor of the conferences supporting partner, Automotive News Europe:

  • Best Contribution to Components Industry - Awarded to Intercos IV
  • Best Volume of Sales - Awarded to GM Opel
  • Best M&A/Strategic Partnership - Awarded to AvtoVaz and Renault
  • Most Significant Investor - Awarded to Volkswagen
