The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)

The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) nationally and internationally promotes the interests of the entire German automotive industry in all fields of the motor transport sector, for example in international trade and economic, transport and environmental policy, technical legislation, standardisation and quality assurance.

The members of the association are companies that operate a plant in the Federal Republic of Germany for the industrial production of motor vehicles and their engines, trailers, special bodies and containers and vehicle parts and accessories.

The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) consists of about 600 member companies, who have come together to research and produce clean and safe auto-mobility for the future. In the country that is known for its successful invention of both automobiles and trucks, the VDA represents the automotive manufactures and supply companies to ensure the continued competitive utilization of their experience and skills. The cooperation between manufactures and suppliers in the VDA is unique in the world of motoring.

Since 1946, the VDA has lobbied nationally and internationally for the creation of the best possible auto-mobility. Our goals are safety, quality and sustainability at the highest technical level. As the representative of the key industry in the German economy, the VDA is responsible in the meantime for every seventh job in Germany and leads a lively dialogue with the industry, the public, politicians and customers, for example, as the organizer of the world’s largest automobile exhibition, the International Motor Show (IAA).

The office of the association is situated in Frankfurt/Main and will move to Berlin in March 2010. The VDA also has an office in Brussels.

Founded in 1995, the AEB is an independent non-commercial association with a membership of 600 companies from across the European Union and Russia. Our members range from large multi-national corporations to Small and Medium Businesses and are united by their commitment to forging stronger economic ties between the EU and Russia, as well as improving the business environment here in Russia. The AEB conducts lobbying activity through its committees and working groups, which cover a wide spectrum of industries and sectors. The committees work closely with the European and Russian authorities, for instance by holding public and closed meetings with government representatives and submitting comments and amendments to draft laws. The AEB also offers informational support to the European business community via its website and publications, press campaigns, statistical surveys, legislative and business alerts. The AEB also hosts regional presentations, business missions and maintaining regional representations.
