We are delighted to announce a brand new, and extremely timely addition to our portfolio of energy events - Adam Smith Conferences' International Forum on “ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN RUSSIA” - which will take place in Moscow on 22nd - 24th June 2010.

Building on the great success of our “Russian Power: Finance & Investment” conference, organised in November 2009 with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new event in our energy series - responding to the latest energy directives in Russia.

Why now?
The necessity for Russia to improve its energy efficiency cannot be overstated. Russia’s President Medvedev has himself recently affirmed that energy efficiency and energy conservation are now among the 5 strategic priorities for Russia’s technological development. In November 2009 the Russian State Duma passed the Federal Law “On energy conservation and increasing energy efficiency…”. The law is aimed at reducing energy consumption nationwide, and includes a number of measures that have far-reaching consequences for a broad range of companies and industries in Russia (as well as individual consumers).

We would like to thank the following members of the FORUM’s ADVISORY BOARD for their insights and contributions to the event programme:

Yana Gorbatenko, Program Manager, Central and Eastern Europe Department - Russia Cleaner Production Program, International Financial Corporation

Son Ir Li, Deputy General Director for Strategy, Mechel Energo

Pavel Teremetsky, Business Development Manager, Department for Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, EBRD

Marina Kojevnikova, Advisor on Information Policy, MRSK of North-West

Sergei Pikin, Director, Energy Development Foundation

Ludmila Gordon, Director of Development and Projects, Global Energy International Prize

Vladimir Usievich, Regional Director, CIS, MVV decon
