THE CLOSE OF A SUCCESSFUL EVENT!
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the 2nd annual conference HSE IN OIL & GAS, RUSSIA & CIS!
For 2012 we included in the programme new topics and issues, and also new formats, to make the conference more interactive and to provide you with a platform to exchange ideas.
The highlight of the event this year was the Pre-Conference Focus Day on “How to avoid and respond to emergency situations at oil & gas complexes: forecasting, strategy, action, management”. On this day, delegates met with representatives of government institutions including the Ministry for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of the Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM), the State Service for Control Over Marine Pollution and Salvage & Rescue Administration (SMPCSA) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, and heard exclusive presentations by executives from BP and Statoil. The second part of the day took the form of a Workshop on Emergency Management which was led by Falck Nutec. The workshop was named as one of the most interesting, relevant and useful parts of the event!
The Main Conference opened with presentations by managers of regulatory bodies (the Federal Fisheries Agency, Federal Supervisory Service for Natural Resources Management, the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Transport), who spoke about the improvement of the regulatory and legal framework for HSE in oil & gas, and clarified the current legal requirements.
At the end of this session Fons Claessen, VP SE/SD, Upstream International Russia/Caspian, Shell gave a special presentation on the “Power of Partnerships in HSE”, in which he demonstrated opportunities for efficient dialogue and cooperation between the business community and the government.
More highlights from the first day:
• An on-stage interview with a leading oil & gas specialist, Simon Durkin, CEO of Salym Petroleum Development N.V.
• Presentations by Marat Sharifullin, Deputy Technical Director for Environmental Protection, Shtokman Development AG and Andrey Petrulevich, Deputy Head of the Administration for Industrial Safety, Monitoring and Risk Analysis, Gazprom Dobycha Shelf, about implementing HSE principles at the SHTOKMAN project.
• Presentations by representatives of TNK-BP Management, Naryanmarneftegas, Shell Neftegas Development, Lukoil, Gazpomneft-Development, Novatek, Gazprom, Bashneft and Sakhalin Energy Investment Company, who spoke not only about their companies’ policies and strategies for HSE, but also about their suggested solutions for solving many of the industry’s most important problems.
The conference’s second day had a practical focus. It featured presentations and discussions on the legal and regulatory aspects of ensuring the safety of oil & gas projects in Russia & the CIS, special presentations on the topics of Transport safety and New technology and innovation for optimising HSE, working groups followed by a panel discussion on Managing Subcontractors, and roundtables. All this gave participants the chance not only to receive valuable information, but also to present their own points of view, which were often radically different to common opinions!
We hope that we were able to provide our participants with the opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas, make new business contacts and take important strategic decisions. We care about forming professional and social relations with our delegates, and hope to see you again at our Conference in 2013!
With best regards,
Svetlana Efimova
Producer of the HSE IN OIL & GAS, RUSSIA & CIS conference
