“….The World has always been divided between optimists and pessimists. Some 50 years ago the pessimists insisted that it was too expensive to explore for oil in Eastern Siberia - and that no one really needs it. Today Western Siberia supplies a significant portion of the world’s energy resources. Then, the pessimists said that it was too dangerous and not necessary to develop oil & gas resources in Eastern Siberia. But 30 million tons of oil were extracted in Eastern Siberia and Yakutia last year. In the next 10 years more than 100 billion cubic meters of gas will be extracted there. Arctic oil & gas resources will supply Russia and the whole world in the second half of the 21st century...”
