TMK, the world's third-largest steel pipe maker by market capitalisation,
will double investment to $500 million this year to meet booming demand for oil
and gas pipelines said its CEO Konstantin Semerikov. 12 February 2007

Igor Vier, MMK's Vice-president for Commerce, told a metals conference the
company would invest 17 billion roubles ($645.4 million) this year. MMK,
Russia's third-largest steel maker, will raise investment by about 13 percent
in 2007 as it prepares to start two new lines to roll steel used in cars and
oil pipelines 12 February 2007

ChTPZ Group, Russia's second-largest steel pipe maker, will invest at least
$1.5 billion in the next five years to raise output by about 50 percent, the
company's general director Vitaly Sadykov told the CIS Metals Summit. ChTPZ
aimed to sell 2.5 million tonnes a year of steel pipes by 2011 to meet booming
demand from Russia's oil and gas sector. The group's two pipe plants supplied
1.72 million tonnes in 2006. 12 February 2007

Russia's Metalloinvest company has begun implementing a project on
completion of the Kirovohrad mining-and-processing complex of oxide-bearing ore
[known as KHOKOR] , Maksim Basov, General Director of the Gazmetall company,
said at the CIS Metals Summit on 12-14 February in Moscow hosted by Adam Smith

The engineering-building division of RUSAL plans to invest $137,5 million in
development of new technologies from 2007 to 2010. According to Valery
Matvienko, Director,
Engineering & Construction Division, in 2007 the company plans to
invest $50 million. 13 February 2007
RIA Oreanda Brazil's CVRD , the world's largest iron ore miner, is studying partnerships
with steel makers in Russia but does not view the country as key to its
expansion said Peter Poppinga, Senior Managing Director of CVRD International
